Dismantling joint is an essential component of a pipeline. When it becomes necessary to repair or replace crucial elements of the pipeline, such as valves, water meters, flow meters, and more, a gap needs to be created between the flange of these components and the pipeline. Then dismantling joint is needed, as it is a unique product designed specifically to facilitate the creation of this gap.This gap was generated  by telescopic dismantling joint’s own length.

A dismantling joint consists of one flange spigot and one flange adaptor. As the flange spigot moves towards the flange adaptor, the length of the flange spigot enters the interior of the flange adaptor, then the length of the dismantling joint becomes shorter. When the flange spigot moves in the opposite direction from the flange adaptor, the length of the flange spigot comes out of the flange adaptor, and the length of the dismantling joint becomes longer. judberd has designed the dismantling joint with adjustable length 50mm, unless the customer has special requirements or the dimensions of the dismantling joint are special.

For neutral fluids such as water, oil, or gas at ambient temperature, a regular FBE coating is suitable. For corrosive or high-temperature substances, special surface treatments are required. For seawater, the interior can be lined with Ebonite and the exterior should be coated with corrosion-resistant paint or with Epoxy Glass Flake Coating inside and outside. For highly acidic liquids, corrosion-resistant nylon 11 is the best choice. For liquids above 100°C, a high temperature resistant epoxy powder must be used,For Impurity-rich pipeline, abrasion-resistant polyurethane inside lining should be used.

If the working pressure rating of your pipeline is ≤ 25bar, a ductile iron dismantling joint is the best choice due to its wide applicability, corrosion resistance, and competitive price. However, if the working pressure rating is ≥ 40bar, you need to choose a steel dismantling joint to withstand high pressure. The material of the steel can be carbon steel, stainless steel, or other alloy steel.

1, Inspection for material

We have a furnace front analyzer to monitor the chemical composition, and simultaneously perform chemical composition, mechanical property, and spheroidization  rate testing on a ladle of molten iron at both the furnace beginning and last. This ensures that the quality of the molten iron meets the required standards.

2,Casting

We have replaced the previous coal-fired furnace with an electric furnace for smelting molten iron, ensuring that our production meets environmental requirements

3,Casting Inspection

After casting , we need to check the casting to see if any casting defects are exist.For those with casting defects, the engineer will judge whether the casting should be discarded or can be repaired.

4,Polishing &Shot blasting

We need to grind the dismantling joint body surface to remove excess parts, so that the casting meets the dimensional requirements of the product. 5,Machining

Dismantling Joint Use

Dismantling joints can be used to connect pipes of various materials, such as DI pipe, steel pipe, HDPE pipe,GRP pipe etc, as long as the flange at the end of the pipe can be connected to the flange at the end of the dismantling joint, ensuring a good seal between the two flanges.

But Sometimes we need to connect dismantling joint with valves or other pipe instrument which have non common flanges, then special length bolts should be assembled to be enough for the flange connection between dismantling joint flanges and other parts flanges.

Restrained Dismantling Joint

Restrained dismantling joint also called rigid dismantling joint or thrust dismantling joint.
Restrained dismantling joint is rigid type dismantling joint, no deflection angle is allowed, it is one kind dismantling joint who have threaded bolts which go through the entire body, these bolts also can be connected to the  flanges which will be connected with dismantling joint own flange. No additional bolts are required.

For ductile iron dismantling joint , we use molds to produce the body. The dimensions of the body are fixed, so the adjustable length for the whole dismantling joint is also fixed. Our mold design is suitable for most engineering requirements, but if customers require special lengths, we can also modify the mold to meet your requirements. If you need a longer one, we can achieve this by increasing the length of the long body and short body. If you need a shorter one, we can achieve this by reducing the length of the long body and short body. However, each size of dismantling joint has its own minimum length, which is primarily determined by the thickness of the flanges and the thickness of the nut. If the operating conditions require a shorter dismantling joint length, our engineers will provide professional recommendations

For steel dismantling joints, we do not need molds for production, so the adjustable length is relatively flexible and can be designed according to customer requirements. However, similar to iron dismantling joint , each size of dismantling joints has its own minimum length, which is also mainly determined by the thickness of the flange and the thickness of the nut.

How dismantling joint work?

How to install dismantling joint?

 1, Adjust the dismantling joint to the assembling length

2. Align the dismantling joint flange bolt holes with the flange bolt holes to be connected

3. Put in the valve,meters or other segement which dismantling joint is working for, make sure the bolt holes

of the valves ,meters or other segement are aligned with the bolt holes of the dismantling joint flange, and tighten another flange of the valve with bolts

4. Insert the dismantling joint long bolts and tighten them with the specified torque in diagonal order.

5. Tighten the bolts of the middle gland to ensure that there is no problem with the sealing of the rubber ring

How to uninstall dismantling joint?

1, Loosen the dismantling joint long bolt

2, Push the long body into the short body to shorten the dismantling joint length

3. Loosen the bolts on the flange at the other end of the valve and take out the valve

4. Repair or replace valves or other segment which dismantling joint is working for

Dismantling joint vs expansion joint

Dismantling joint is used to facilitate the maintenance or replacement of important parts in the pipeline. It is necessary to manually loosen the bolts to lengthen or shorten the face to face length of dismantling joint. Once installed in the pipeline and the bolts are tightened, the length cannot be changed. 

Expansion joint is elongated or shortened under the action of the vibration of the pipeline itself, without manual operation.

Therefore, they are products with different functions and cannot work instead of each other.

The function of the Flange Adaptor is to connect the socket end of the pipe to the flange in the pipe.

The two products are for completely different purposes.

Some user want to know if they can use flange adaptor to replace dismantling joint. but please note the following differences between them

1,The dismantling joint ends are flanged and are generally a rigid connection. Rigid dismantling joint can transfer the axial thrust from the pipe to the entire pipeline, thus avoiding damage to the dismantling joint from axial thrust.

2,Dismantling joint is rigid connection, no deflection is allowed

3,For dismantling joint,after repairing or replacement of valves, water meters and other important instruments, only the flanges at both ends need to be reconnected, no need to re-pressurise the pipeline to allow the fluid to run again.

1,Flange adaptor is one flange end and one socket ends. it is a flexible joint, need to bear the axial thrust in the pipeline themselves.

2,The flange adaptor is a flexible connection that allows a deflection angle of 3 degrees.

3,For flange adaptor, after reinstallation, it is necessary to do pressure test for the pipeline to ensure that the flange adaptor do not leak before the normal operation of the pipeline.
