What Is Surface Box?
The main function of the surface box is to install it on the ground to protect the switch of the valve. In general, the upper surface of the surface box should be flush with the ground, so as not to affect the normal driving of pedestrians and vehicles on the road, by opening the buried box we can operate the valve switch and thus switch the valve on and off. The operation of the water flow is switched on and off. Generally the surface box is located in the middle of a public pipe and a building, the upstream part is the public utility maintenance part and the downstream part is the building part, which is the private maintenance part. The surface box is generally made of cast iron or ductile iron. now HDPE and Fibreglass Body, Ductile Iron Lids type is also popular.The surface body is composed of a base and a cover. There are internal holes in the base and the body, which are used to install internal parts such as valves, spools, etc.

DIN – EN 4057 is designed for water pipe;Surface-box for valves of boring fittings
DIN – EN 4056 is designed for Water pipe; surface boxes for on/off valves(gate valve,ball valve,globe valve etc).
DIN – EN 4055 is designed for Water pipe; surface box for underground fire hydrants.
Surface box installation,commissioning and maintenance
Installation
Install the manhole flush with the road surface to avoid depressions where possible.
Ensure that the concrete and gravel base is stable to prevent the manhole cover from moving or sinking and appearing unopenable or unusable.
Commissioning
Try opening the cover of the buried box to ensure that the cover opens smoothly.
Ensure that the internal valves can be opened and closed easily and that there is no debris inside the lid when it is installed.
Maintenance
Grease the lever on the lid with a suitable lubricant and clean the slot in the lid, where the cotter hook for the operating key is inserted, free of debris.
In cases where the manhole is subject to vehicular traffic, check that the cover is still level with the road surface and that the frame is not damaged.
