Flanged Tee Fitting
Flanged tee is a type of pipe fitting used to create a branch in a pipeline. It is characterized by having three outlets in the shape of a “T,” with flanges on each outlet. The flanges allow for easy connection to other flanged pipes or fittings.

Flanged Tee Fitting Types
Flanged tee fittings are commonly used in piping systems to join three sections of pipe, allowing fluid flow to be split or combined. There are several types of flanged tee fittings, each serving different purposes:
-
Equal Tee: This type of tee fitting has all three outlets of the same diameter. It’s used when all three connections need to be of the same size.
-
Reducing Tee: In a reducing tee, the branch outlet is smaller in diameter than the main pipe outlets. This is used when the flow needs to be reduced to a smaller size.
-
Straight Tee: This tee fitting has a straight design and is used for straight-line branching.
-
Wye Tee (Y-Tee): This type of tee fitting has a Y-shaped design, allowing for a smoother flow transition with less turbulence.
-
Barred Tee: A barred tee includes a bar across the branch opening to prevent solid particles or debris from entering the branch line. It’s often used in pipelines carrying particulate matter.
-
Sweep Tee: This type has a curved design to allow for smoother fluid flow, reducing the risk of turbulence and pressure loss.
-
Lateral Tee: A lateral tee has a 45-degree branch off the main pipe, used in situations where a 90-degree branch is not suitable.
-
Double Branch Tee: This fitting has two branches coming off the main pipe, allowing for multiple connections in a compact space.
-
Flanged scour tee:It is designed with a “tee” shape and includes flanges at the ends for easy connection to other pipes or equipment. The primary purpose of a flanged scour tee is to facilitate the cleaning, flushing, or draining of pipelines.
Each type of flanged tee fitting is designed to meet specific requirements in piping systems, ensuring efficient and reliable flow control.

In summary, a fire hydrant tee is a crucial component in fire protection systems, providing a connection point between the main water supply line and fire hydrants to ensure quick and reliable access to water during emergencies.
NOTE
Flanged tees offer rigid connection, the connection is stable and It can transmit axial forces well , but is not suitable for ground surfaces that are prone to instability and settlement. In the event of ground subsidence or movement, damage can easily be caused to the flange tees and the accessories which are used for flange connection.
