Wide range flange adaptor and pipe coupling, because same one can connect many different pipes(ductile iron pipe, steel pipe, PVC pipe,GRP pipe ,AC pipe etc), can greatly reduce stock quantity.It is very friendly to distributors. And the installation is particularly fast and convenient, just need spanner in hand, workers do not need special training, just follow the installation instructions , the coupling and flange adaptor can be installed very fast, very simple and no failed . These advantages makes universal coupling and universal flange adaptor the most widely used joints to connect the pipes.Pipe couplings are used to connect two spigot ends of pipes, flange adaptor are used to connect from flanges to spigot ends of pipes.

After proper lubrication for the gasket,  you can assemble the pipe coupling or flange adaptor completely, please note that this time only need to tighten the bolt to not fall off on it, then you  can insert the pipe to the two end of pipe couplings or one socket ends(not flange ends) of flange adaptors  , and then tight the nuts counterclockwise direction according to the diagonal sequence of evenly divided into many times tightening, when you tight the bolts, the gasket was deformed by the bolt pressure to tight the pipe to achieve sealing,  Brinell hardness is 65 BHN for our regular universal coupling and flange adaptor. This hardness gasket is easier to be deformed, so it is easy to tighten to the required sealing torque. But this rubber ring volume is easily to be squeezed to be smaller by the tightness from tie rods, so it will failed for sealing under the higher pressure, because the high pressure will push out the gasket from the sealing position.So the soft gasket is not suitable for big gap range pipe coupling or flange adaptor (judberd design range  is generally within 20mm for normal pipe coupling or flange adaptor), if the sealing range is greater than 30mm, when you need to seal the small outer diameter pipe , the gap between the inner diameter of the pipe coupling or flange adaptor and the outer diameter of the pipe is large, the soft gasket may be flipped outwards under pressure, so we need to increase the hardness of the gasket to achieve sealing. So that the volume of the rubber ring is reduced less, the deformation is not so big , the same pressure is not enough to make the gasket turned out, so that the sealing can succeed.

So for a wide range pipe coupling and flange adaptor, in addition to the design of the dimensions, the hardness of the gasket is also an important factor to assure a good quality product.

Judberd can design wide range couplings or flange adaptor with a small range gap, which are easier to tighten, or wide range couplings or flange adaptor with a large range gap, which can be used for more pipes . Consult judberd for specific options.

If your wide range pipe coupling or flange adaptor failed, the reason may be the casting material, casting dimension, the material of the gasket, the dimension of the gasket, the hardness of the gasket, the oval of the pipe, did not tighten the bolts to the required torque, the bolts do not have enough strength and so on, when judberd design these joint, fully take into account these factors, and set aside an appropriate safety factor. For example, our DN100 (109-128) pipe coupling or flange adaptor can seal 108 and 129 pipes without any problem, but in order to provide perfect quality to our customers, we mark and recommend our customers to use to 109-128 pipes to ensure that no problem occurs.

But note that the wide range of pipe couplings and flange adapters can not be used for pipes that can be easily deformed, such as HDPE pipe, for HDPE pipe, in order to prevent the sealing failure due to the deformation of the pipe, restrained part is necessary, so for HDPE pipe, we suggest to use our restrained type. So for HDPE pipe, we recommend to use our restrained type pipe coupling or flange adaptor or aqua grip type coupling or flange adaptor as below.
