Tapping Sleeve With Thread Outlet
Threaded outlet tapping sleeve is a mechanical fitting that goes around an existing pipe and creates a secure and sealed connection point for a branch. Unlike a tapping sleeve with a flange outlet (used for valves or large branch pipes), the threaded outlet version is typically used for small connections and threaded fittings like valves, pressure gauges, sample ports, and isolation points.
The outlet is usually a female or male threaded port (like BSP or NPT) designed to connect directly to threaded accessories or pipelines.

Feature
Allows you to hot tap without shutting down the system.
Works with ductile iron, PVC, HDPE, carbon steel, and asbestos cement pipe.
Great for tight spaces and lightweight applications.
Comes with EPDM or NBR gaskets for water or oil systems.

Thread Outlet Position
The threaded outlet of a single-band tapping sleeve is usually located as below picture, close to the locking bolts. This allows for higher bolt tightening pressure near the outlet, resulting in better sealing performance without affecting installation.

The threaded outlet of double-band and triple-band repair clamps is usually located in the center of one of the bands. Unlike single-band clamps, double and triple-band clamps have more bolts, providing greater tightening pressure and better sealing performance. The central outlet position generally does not affect installation.

How to choose right thread outlet tapping sleeve?
Match the pipe OD range Choose a sleeve that fits the outside diameter of your main pipe.
Confirm the thread outlet size and type
Make sure the outlet is the size of your branch pipe and is the correct thread standard (NPT or BSP).
Check material and coating Depending on the medium and environment, Use stainless steel or coated ductile iron for corrosion resistance.
Make sure the gasket material (e.g., EPDM or NBR) is compatible with the pipeline medium.
Pressure rating Check the sleeve’s rated working pressure (e.g., PN10, PN16, ANSI 150) to make sure it will perform safely under your operating conditions.
Inspect product quality Before you install it, check the outlet threads, gasket integrity, and all components. Damaged threads or gaskets can lead to failure.
Tapping Sleeve vs Saddle Clamp vs Repair Clamp
The differences between tapping sleeve, saddle clamp, and repair clamp are as follows. Please select the appropriate product based on your actual application needs.
Item | Tapping Sleeve with Thread Outlet | Saddle Clamp | Repair Clamp |
---|---|---|---|
Main Purpose | Live tapping & branch connection | Branch tapping | Pipe leak repair |
Thread Outlet | Yes | Yes (threaded or unthreaded) | No |
Pressure Rating | Medium to high | Low to medium | Medium to high |
Application | Permanent branch line | Light-duty tapping | Temporary or permanent repair |
